Hello, I am Laura Millington. I am a Chartered Physiotherapist and Certified APPI Pilates Instructor who teaches Modified Pilates founded on Physiotherapy Principles in the Macclesfield Area.
I am an experienced Physiotherapist, having qualified in 2004 with a Bsc(Hons)Physiotherapy.
I have worked both in the NHS and Private Practice settings as a Senior Physiotherapist.
I specialised in rehabilitation in particular related to neurology and falls. I am a qualified Postural Stability Instructor and have also undergone training with The British Bobath Tutors Association which places great emphasis on normal movement and function.
I first came across Pilates after i had my first child. I found Pilates greatly helped me to strengthen my core and improve my posture and flexibility. It helped to ease my neck and upper back pain from lifting and carrying a child. I was sold!
I trained with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute and passed the Certification exam in summer 2016. The APPI is a highly acclaimed Pilates provider who only train Physiotherapists and equivalent trained professionals.
Training to date includes the Matwork Series 1-3 (beginner-advanced), Ante/Postnatal Pilates, Pilates in Neurology, Pilates for Children & Young People, Pilates and Spinal Surgery and Pilates for Scoliosis.
When I am not working, teaching Pilates or being a mummy to my two children – i enjoy keeping fit particularly running. I have found Pilates has helped to improve my performance but also helps me relax and have some ‘me’ time to truely focus on myself giving me greater body awareness and sense of wellbeing.
